Experience Downtown Atlanta and the many photo opportunities it has to offer. The area is one of the most active business districts in Metro Atlanta and dates back to 1826 when Wilson Lumpkin and Hamilton Fulton surveyed a possible railroad route between Chattanooga, Tennessee and Milledgeville, the state capital at the time. The railroad was built, linking Georgia to the northern U.S., and the settlement that developed around the railroad depot changed its name from Terminus to Marthasville and finally Atlanta.
Today, the downtown area is home to some of the tallest buildings in Atlanta, including the 1,023 feet (312 meter) tall Bank of America Plaza, the Westin Peachtree Plaza, the Georgia-Pacific Tower, the Marriott Marquis, the SunTrust Plaza (formerly known as One Peachtree Center), 191 Peachtree Tower, the 459 feet (140 meters) Centennial Tower, and the 44-story State of Georgia Building, among others.
The 4 hour walk will offer many photo opportunities, including the Georgia Dome, the Georgia World Congress Center, Philips Arena, the Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coca Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, and the Healey Building (please note that we will not enter any of the structures).
